Lawngtlai DEO holds meeting with Internet and Telecom Service Providers

Hnahthial Post | November 10, 2025, Aizawl: In connection with the upcoming 12th General Election to the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), District Election Officer (DEO) Shri Donny Lalruatsanga today convened a meeting with Internet and Mobile Network Service Providers at his Office Chamber.

At the outset, the DEO expressed appreciation to the representatives for their cooperation and support. He highlighted the vital role of Internet and Telecom Service Providers in ensuring smooth communication during the election process. The DEO particularly emphasized the need to address poor connectivity and shadow areas, identifying around 20 locations where internet and mobile networks remain weak or unavailable.

He pointed out that reliable connectivity is essential for polling parties to reach their assigned stations, for reporting during voting and poll closure, and for other election-related communications. The DEO urged providers to strengthen network coverage and ensure adequate power backup at all towers, especially from December 1 to 3, 2025, when the elections are scheduled. He further mentioned that all the necessary requirements will be provided to them in written form for better clarity and coordination.

The service providers assured full cooperation and informed that measures are being planned to improve connectivity and readiness ahead of the polling dates.

Representatives from Airtel, Jio, BSNL, Net 7, and Skynet attended the meeting, along with Shri David Lalrinawma and Shri H. Zonunmawia (Returning Officers), and Shri Collin Hlychho (Election Officer).

The meeting concluded with words of thanks from the DEO.
