LADC - MDC Election 2025: 83.99% Voter Turnout Recorded

Hnahthial Post | December 4, 2025, Lawngtlai: The 12th Member of District Council (MDC) Election under the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) concluded smoothly yesterday with a high voter turnout of 83.99%.

Polling began at 7:00 AM and continued till 4:00 PM across 111 Polling Stations, along with 1 Auxiliary Polling Station, using EVMs.

Out of the 56,873 registered voters within LADC, 47,769 voters cast their votes, marking an impressive participation of 83.99%.

The LADC area has 25 elected MDC seats and 4 nominated seats, making a total of 29.

A total of 80 candidates are in the fray, representing various political parties and independent candidates as shown below:

1. BJP – 10 candidates

2. INC – 14 candidates

3. MNF – 20 candidates

4. ZPM – 25 candidates

5. Independent – 11 candidates

The counting of votes will take place on Tuesday, 9th December, starting from 8:00 AM at Government Lawngtlai College.
