Governor Swears in Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte as State Information Commissioner


Hnahthial Post | March 3, 2026, Aizawl: Mizoram Governor (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), administered the oath of office today to Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte, IAS (Retd.), appointing him as State Information Commissioner under the Mizoram State Information Commission (MSIC) at a ceremony in Durbar Hall, Lok Bhavan.


During the swearing-in ceremony, Chief Secretary Pu Khilli Ram Meena read out the appointment notification for Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte as State Information Commissioner. Governor (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh then administered the oath of office to Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte, formally inducting him into the role.


The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma, Speaker Pu Lalbiakzama, EF&CC Minister Pu Lalthansanga, Agriculture Minister Pu PC Vanlalruata, IPRP&S Minister Pu B. Lalchhanzova, and other dignitaries.


Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte hails from Tarpho village in Hnathial District. He holds a B.A. (Hons. in Education) from NEHU (1986), LL.B from NEHU (1993), M.A. (Public Administration) from HPU Shimla (2001), B.C.S from Serampore College (2007), D.Min from Serampore College (2018), and a Ph.D in Public Administration from MZU (2023). He joined the Mizoram Civil Service on May 30, 1991, and was promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) on December 3, 2019, in the AGMUT Cadre 2009.


After serving as Deputy Commissioner of Serchhip, he held Secretary positions in various Mizoram government departments. Following his promotion to Commissioner rank, he served as Commissioner & Secretary in the Excise & Narcotics Department and later in the Commerce & Industries Department before retiring on superannuation on August 31, 2025. During his career, he attended several prestigious DoPT-sponsored foreign training programmes. He currently resides with his wife and children at PWD Tlang, Ramhlun Venglai, Aizawl.
