Lawngtlai Deputy Commissioner Administers oath to new CADC Chief Executive Member


Hnahthial Post | July 8, 2026, Lawngtlai: The oath-taking ceremony of the newly appointed Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the 11th Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) was held today at the CADC Art & Cultural Hall, Kamalanagar-II.


The programme was chaired by Shri Pronit Bikash Chakma, Executive Secretary, CADC. During the ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai, Shri Donny Lalruatsanga, administered the Oath of Office and Secrecy to Pu Nirupam Chakma, who was formally sworn in as the Chief Executive Member of the 11th CADC.

Earlier, Shri Pronit Bikash Chakma read out the Government Notification appointing Shri Nirupam Chakma as the new Chief Executive Member, following which the oath of office and secrecy was administered.


In his address, Shri Nirupam Chakma expressed gratitude to the Governor of Mizoram, the Chief Minister, the Minister for District Council & Minority Affairs, and the Chakma Democratic Alliance Legislature Party for placing their confidence in him. He reaffirmed his commitment to establishing a transparent, accountable and people-centric administration in the CADC. He stated that priority would be given to key sectors such as education, healthcare, road infrastructure, employment generation for youth and other developmental initiatives. He also assured that his government would make every effort to ensure the overall development of the CADC and appealed to Village Councils, civil society organisations, churches and the public to extend their wholehearted support in this endeavour.


Speaking on the occasion, Shri C. Lalsawivunga, Minister for District Council & Minority Affairs, said it was a matter of great satisfaction that a new government had been formed in the CADC after a prolonged period of Governor's Rule. He appreciated the initiatives taken by the Governor and the Chief Minister and expressed confidence that the Chakma Democratic Alliance Legislature Party would usher in a new era of development in the Council. He also conveyed his best wishes to the new government and hoped it would provide stable, people-oriented and progressive governance.


The Chakma Autonomous District Council has 20 elected seats. The Chakma Democratic Alliance Legislature Party, comprising 10 members from the BJP and 9 members from the ZPM, has jointly formed the new Executive Committee.

Among those present at the ceremony were Shri C. Lalsawivunga, Minister for District Council & Minority Affairs; Shri Devesh Kumar, Member of the Bihar Legislative Council; former MLAs, MDCs, former MDCs, government officials, leaders of various political parties and other distinguished guests.
