Health Minister Graces RIPANS 26th Graduation Ceremony 2026

Hnahthial Post | Sept 3, 2026, Aizawl: Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences (RIPANS) today organized its '26th Graduation Ceremony' to felicitate its outgoing students at the RIPANS Auditorium. Pi Lalrinpuii, Minister, Health & Family Welfare Department, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Addressing the ceremony, Health Minister Pi Lalrinpuii congratulated the graduating students. She said that compared to when they first joined RIPANS, they are now leaving the institute equipped with important and valuable knowledge and skills. She urged them to use their acquired knowledge effectively for caring for the health of fellow human beings. She stated that RIPANS is a very important educational institution in Mizoram, and while each discipline has its own distinct utility, all are equally important in healthcare.

The Chief Guest emphasized that RIPANS, with students coming together from the 8 North Eastern States of India, is a great place for integration. She said it is an important centre for learning about different cultures and for building bonds, and urged the students to continue nurturing the good relationships they have built even after leaving the institution.

Pi Lalrinpuii said that academic success alone is not complete success. She stressed the need for good conduct, politeness, integrity and deep dedication. She exhorted them to strive to be trustworthy persons who can discharge their responsibilities well wherever they are.

The Health Minister said the fresh graduates need to prepare themselves to face various challenges as they begin a new chapter in life. She said success awaits those who do not give up and who are persevering. She urged them to strive to be useful to others wherever they may be. While congratulating the graduates, she also asked them to remember that the most important reason they could have this ceremony is the sacrifice of their parents and the dedication of their teachers.

Dr. H. Lalhlenmawia, HOD, Department of Pharmacy, delivered the welcome address. RIPANS Director Dr. Sanjay D. Sawat gave an exhortation to the outgoing students, urging them to use their knowledge as a blessing for patients in need. He also exhorted them to uphold honesty and integrity. Speeches were heard from the students. Prizes were distributed to meritorious students from different disciplines. Dr. Ruby Zothankimi Ralte proposed the vote of thanks and concluded the function.

Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences, Zemabawk, was initiated as a project under the North Eastern Council on 30th March, 1995. On 1st April, 2007, it was handed over to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. RIPANS offers courses in Bachelor of Science (Nursing), Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Optometry, Radio Imaging Technology, Physiotherapy and Nutrition and Dietetics. Master Degrees and Ph.D. programmes are also being introduced.

Students are admitted from all 8 North Eastern States. There are 50 seats in BSc. Nursing, 40 in B.Pharm, 40 in BMLS, 40 in B.Optom, 40 in B.MRIT, 33 in BPT, 40 in BND - a total of 283 seats.

Till date, RIPANS has produced 879 B.Sc Nursing graduates and 65 Post Graduates, 467 graduates in Pharmacy and 163 Post Graduates, 640 graduates in Medical Laboratory Science and 43 Post Graduates, 346 graduates in Bachelor of Optometry, 347 graduates in Bachelor of Radio Imaging Technology, and 10 graduates in PG Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics.

In today’s 26th Graduation Ceremony, degrees were conferred on 276 students across various disciplines, including Bachelor degree, Master Degree and Diploma.
