Hnahthial Post | July 20, 2026, Aizawl: Mizoram Governor, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), today released the 43rd Annual Report Book of Mizoram Rural Bank (MRB) for the Financial Year 2025-2026 at Lok Bhavan.
While releasing the report, the Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh expressed appreciation to Mizoram Rural Bank (MRB) for releasing its Annual Report earlier than in previous years and for the various visible achievements. He commended the bank’s efforts but urged its officials not to be satisfied with the current achievements alone. Instead, he encouraged them to continue working with greater dedication to achieve even better results in the future. Describing MRB as the heart of rural finance and the backbone of Mizoram’s rural economy, the Governor highlighted the bank’s widespread presence across the state’s remote hilly regions. He called upon the bank to make every possible effort to effectively implement various central government schemes for the public, including education loans and social security schemes, ensuring maximum outreach and successful delivery.
General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh further noted that, as Mizoram is a revenue-deficit state, focused efforts are needed to enhance revenue generation, with rural economic development playing a crucial role in this regard. He stressed the importance of establishing strong market linkages so that farmers can sell their produce at remunerative prices and increase their income. He also emphasised the need for more extensive outreach programmes. The Governor urged MRB officials to continue working towards improving the Credit-Deposit Ratio and maintaining zero Non-Performing Assets (NPAs). He encouraged them to collaborate closely with NABARD to develop better rural infrastructure. He called for the fostering of a culture of excellence, advising the bank to regularly evaluate its performance, popularise its activities and strive for even more productive years ahead.
Mr Bhaskar Manta, General Manager, NABARD, Aizawl, also addressed the gathering. He commended the strong collaboration between NABARD and MRB in providing financial services to poor farmers, women and Self Help Groups. Praising MRB’s initiatives and achievements, he reaffirmed NABARD’s continued commitment to supporting MRB and the people of Mizoram.
